Notes for George Anderson Hembree:
1. DATE OF BIRTH: Although there is agreement among official records that George Anderson Hembree was born Oct 14th, there are three different years of birth given in documents and other sources. According to his death certificate and extrapolation from his obituary, his birth year was 1869 [NOTE: THIS YEAR IS UNLIKELY IF THE SEPT 1869 BIRTH DATE OF HIS OLDER SISTER, SARAH ADALINE HEMBREE IS CORRECT]; according to his gravestone inscription and death record information [NC DEATH INDEX-BASED ON DEATH CERTIFICATE INFORMATION PROVIDED BY FAMILY INFORMANT, WHO MAY HAVE REPORTED IN ERROR], he was born in the year, 1870. According to “1900 U.S. Federal Census” enumeration, his year of birth was 1871. To date, there has been no available birth record with which to verify his actual year of birth, but the most likely year, based on the reports of his age at death in his obituary and on his gravestone, is 1870.
