Misc. Burial Sites
Information supplied by Ivan Walker, with my Thanks.
To my knowledge there are two isolated burial sites located in Cherokee
County. First site: On the hill about 100 feet from the the South West
Corner of the old Mt. Nebo Church/Beaverdam School House, is two graves.
1:John B. WALKER Jr. Born Jan. 20, 1866 died Nov. 13, 1940 (marked with
gravestone). 2: An unknown infant child with a gravestone marked with
"Known only to God". Winston Farmer or Lesard Radford knows the location
of this site.
Second site: is on/or near the top of the mountain south of and above
where Bass Dockery lived on Tipton Creek. From the Hanging Dog community
follw the Davis Creek road to the Hawshaw gap turn left along the top of
the mountain a short distance there is a grave. I do not remember who is
buried there if I ever knew,. There is also a couple on "Indian" graves
in this area as well. Roger Farmer can provide or show one the location
of this site.
